PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT

 

The Prince William County Police Department is accepting applications for our upcoming academies. The Prince William County Police Department has over 500 sworn police officers that serve a county over 350,000 citizens and covers 348 square miles. Prince William County is located 25 miles south of Washington, DC.

The starting salary is $44,086 - $57,313 depending upon qualifications.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be US citizen
  • Must be 21 years of age upon completion of Academy
  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • Possess a valid driver's license
  • Must not have been convicted of any felony or serious misdemeanor

INCENTIVES

  • $3000 - Signing Bonus upon graduating Academy and Field Training Officer Program
  • Officer Retention Supplement -

    1 - 9 years of service 3% of current salary annually,
    10 years or more of service, 5% of current salary annually with a $4000 cap.

  • $1560 - Spanish Language Stipend
  • Academy probates approved for Veterans benefit
  • Take Home Vehicle Program for officers residing in the county
  • Tuition Reimbursement Program up to $1500 per year

APPLICATION PROCESS

  • Written examination: Passing score is 65; Not required for sworn police officers
  • Polygraph: 2 - 3 hours
  • Interview with a background investigator: 1 - 2 hours
  • Physical fitness test: 3 hours
  • Physical Assessment with the County's physician: 1 hour
  • Psychological exam: 3 - 4 hours
  • Ride-a-long: 10-hour shift
  • Background investigation: 3 - 6 months
